Meet the founder.

Minnie Njeri Karanja (She/Her/Elle)

Minnie Karanja has dedicated her career to socio-economic justice and equity. For over a decade, she has worked in the non-profit sector in Canada and internationally. She approaches work through the lenses and values of intersectionality, justice, decolonization, equity, inclusion and diversity.

As a coach and mentor, Minnie works with non-profit and social impact leaders on values-aligned strategies to drive transformative change in communities. She is the founder and executive director of Impact Weaving. A consulting and coaching practice serving the charitable sector in Canada. In 2022, she was appointed to serve in the Advisory Committee for the Charitable Sector, a consultative forum for the Government of Canada to engage in meaningful dialogue with the charitable sector. Her contribution informed equitable and inclusive practices and regulatory changes for the sector.

Minnie has a passion for mentoring non-profit leaders to design impactful and fulfilling careers. She has coached executives, mid-level managers as well as emerging leaders in the sector. She is a coach and consultant with Evenings & Weekends Consulting, a values-driven consulting company that supports the charitable sector to advance equity, justice and social impact.

She is currently the director of innovation and engagement at Pacific Legal Education and Outreach, where she is championing and advocating for support to help Canadian non profits access barrier-free legal guidance.

Teaching is one of Minnie’s other passions which she gets to fulfil as an instructor at the Simon Fraser University. She teaches New Approaches to Non-Profit Management for the Canadian Context. This course grounds students in foundational competencies in legal, governance, HR and resource development required to lead a Canadian non-profit.

Minnie believes that travelling allows us to have fresh perspectives in our lives, giving us the courage the live boldly and aspire for a better world. That’s why she founded Celebrate Africa Tours, a social enterprise that provides travel services to African destinations in the most ethical and culturally respectful ways.

She lives with her family in the traditional and ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations—also known today as Vancouver, British Columbia. She volunteers her time to mentor young professionals working in the social impact space and with local grassroots organizations.
